Originally from Nottingham, for as long as I can remember music has played a massive part in my life.

Singing at Southwell Minster from the age of seven my early music education was very classically focused, and while this influence has not left me, my experiences studying at the University of Sheffield have greatly changed my musical interests regarding both what I perform and what I listen to.

Jazz has since become a larger focus of mine. Joining the university's big band as a singer helped me to push myself out of my comfort zone and provided a new and refreshing approach to performing that was incredibly different from anything I had done in the past.

While big band music has had its impact on my singing, my approach to playing the piano has likewise been heavily affected by my interest in contemporary jazz pianists, some of my personal favourites being Brad Mehldau, Esbjorn Svensson, and Aaron Parks.
